Games of Thrones – Davos and Tyrion’s Arrival at King’s Landing

Filming Location in España

The Muriola Beach in Barrika, Bizkaia, was one of the filming locations used in the seventh season of Game of Thrones. This magical spot, surrounded by cliffs and lush vegetation, served as the backdrop for scenes of Davos Seaworth and Tyrion Lannister arriving in King’s Landing. Here, they disembark to find Gendry in Flea Bottom, and a tense encounter unfolds between Gendry and soldiers who recognize Tyrion.

Various modifications were made to the landscape for the production, both physical and digital. For instance, the wooden railing leading down to the beach was physically removed, while elements like the wall and the castle of King’s Landing were digitally added in the area where lifeguard posts and showers are typically placed during the summer.

The scenes were filmed during low tide, which allowed much of the normally submerged rocks to be exposed. This detail adds a magical and unique atmosphere to the shots, enhancing the natural beauty of the beach.

Muriola Beach is small but full of charm, making it ideal for those seeking a setting surrounded by nature. However, during the summer, it tends to fill up quickly due to its limited size. Interestingly, local regulations prohibit games like paddleball and other sports during high tide to preserve the space and tranquility.

This beach has undoubtedly become a must-visit location for fans of the series and for anyone looking to enjoy the spectacular Basque coast in a breathtaking setting.
