Games of Thrones – The Dungeons of the Red Keep in King’s Landing

Located in the Arenal neighborhood, the Royal Shipyards of Seville were medieval shipyards where galleys were built, dating back to their construction in 1252 by King Alfonso X. In November 2016, this historic monument was transformed into the dungeons of the Red Keep in King’s Landing for the seventh season of Game of Thrones.

In these iconic scenes, viewers can see the impressive dragon skeletons and the massive ballista that Qyburn presents to Cersei as a secret weapon to take down Daenerys’s dragons. This spectacular location served as the backdrop for key moments in the storyline, including Jaime and Cersei Lannister’s desperate escape during the penultimate episode of the series.

Despite its historical significance and its prominent role in the show, the Royal Shipyards of Seville are currently not open to the public. However, its majestic Gothic architecture remains a testament to Seville’s glorious past and its importance as one of the most iconic filming locations in Game of Thrones.
