Games of Thrones – Water Gardens of Dorne

Filming Location in España

The Royal Alcázar of Seville, with its rich history and Mudéjar architecture, was transformed into the Water Gardens of Dorne, home to House Martell in Game of Thrones. This iconic palace was the perfect setting to capture the warm and exotic essence of Dorne, the southernmost kingdom of Westeros.

Its famous gardens hosted memorable scenes, such as the discussion between Doran Martell and Ellaria Sand, or Myrcella Lannister’s walks with Trystane Martell. The Gallery of the Grotesque, with its Mannerist design, and the Garden of the Ladies, with its Renaissance fountains, served as the backdrop for these iconic moments. It was also here that Jaime Lannister and Bronn fought the Sand Snakes, ending in their capture.

The Hall of Ambassadors, with its breathtaking golden dome, was used as the interior of House Martell, notably during the negotiation between Jaime and the Martells. Meanwhile, the Baths of María de Padilla, located beneath the Gothic Palace, were the setting for Ellaria Sand’s conspiracies with the Sand Snakes.

The Alcázar closed its doors for a month to accommodate the filming, becoming a must-visit destination for fans of the series who wish to relive the magic of Dorne in one of Europe’s oldest and most beautiful palaces.
